Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo is a 2003 American computer-animated journey movie produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It tells the story of the overprotective ocellaris clownfish named Marlin who, together with a regal blue tang named Dory, hunts for his kidnapped son Nemo all the way to Sydney Harbour. Along the way, Marlin learns to take risks and comes to terms with Nemo taking care of himself. The movie was released on May 30, 2003. It also became the highest grossing animated movie that time earning $871 million in total worldwide at the end of its theatrical run. The movie sold 40 million copies as of 2006 and was the best-selling DVD of all time. 3D was released in 2002. A follow-up, Finding Dory, was released on June 17, 2016 in the United States. The motivation for Nemo leaped from multiple experiences, going back to director Andrew Stanton’s childhood, when he loved going to the dentist to see the fish tank, assuming that the fish were from the ocean and wanted to go home. In an interview with National Geographic magazine, Stanton said that the idea for the characters of Marlin and Nemo came from a photograph of two clownfish peeking out of an anemone. The movie’s usage of clownfish provoked mass purchase of the fish breed as pets in the United States, even though the story showed the use of fish as pets negatively and proposed that saltwater aquariums are markedly tricky and expensive to maintain. Here are the main characters of the movie.
Marlin is a clownfish and an overprotected father after his wife and other children were killed by a barracuda which made him very protective to the point of isolating Nemo. After Nemo was being kidnapped by some divers, Marlin risks his own life to find and rescue nemo which made him braver and gained more self-confidence.
Dory with a short-term memory loss is a pacific blue regal tang. She became Marlin’s companion in searching for nemo. Ditzy and absent-minded, but positive and honest, Dory offers much moral support and comfort that Marlin has been missing for years.
Nemo is Marlin’s son. He is the only survivor during the barracuda attack. He grow with a lucky fin that did not develop properly. He is very curious and brave, but sheltered. His father’s overprotectiveness has kept him from attending school and having adventures.
